Printmakers' Assembly : Launching Live Online at 18:00(SGT) on 21 May 2020 on www.stpi.com.sg5/17/2020 You're invited to the online showcase of Printmakers' Assembly! Since it was founded in 2002, STPI has organised motley exhibitions around and beyond its residency programme, working with established artists to expand their oeuvre to incorporate the mediums of print and paper.
Printmakers’ Assembly further opens up the gallery programme to show artworks beyond those produced in STPI’s Creative Workshop. Join us at our inaugural online showcase celebrating the strength, richness and variability of printmaking practices! www.stpi.com.sg I recreated the workspace from last year for some photos to be taken for the gallery's publicity materials for Printmakers' Assembly. The ones I had from last year were badly taken because I was in a rush to complete - almost 65 hours in the making of one book in the edition. Also, some processes were difficult to document on my own. It sure feels good to see my sketches and un bound panels up on the wall after some time of stagnation and not knowing how to proceed from the sudden loss of job and adjusting to a new routine, what they are calling a 'new normal'. I feel more positive looking at these again, that I actually was very productive. We're still in the midst of the circuit breaker and there will definitely be no physical show for Printmakers' Assembly. Could it be to the artists' advantage, in a sense that the audience will get treated to insights into the artists' work spaces and practices, as compared to a superficial presentation in a white cube.
I particularly love sharing processes, especially in art making and print making, an area where even a lot of artists don't know about. I sincerely look forward to more resource pages that will be archived by Printmaking institutes. With the circuit breaker comes many new initiatives and they are pretty positive I must say! Printmakers' Assembly will be launched live on www.stpi.com.sg on 21 May 2020 at 18:00 (SGT). Hope you'll check it out! |
