Found thee plant that fits perfectly in this lovely head.
It's been two years since I retrieved this from a student who had just had this fired from a ceramics class (happened to chance upon it on his desk). I loved it (came with a lid that made him look like tin man) and asked him what he was going to do with it. He didn't know (usually if they didn't know, it'll usually end up forgotten , unwanted, and in a bin). I suspected that he probably thought it was just another piece of work from a class assignment. I already had the intention of getting this piece from him before I asked the question, so I told him that I wanted to buy it. He giggled in response, possibly in surprise, and gave it to me without hesitation ( didn't understand why I wanted to have it). I wished (and still hope) students saw more value in their creations -wonder what he's up to now. - just hope he's still making things 🌞

'Die Liao!' Is something we say in Singapore when one gets himself into trouble.
Here, I say it because I'm back to my bad habit of buying more fabrics, because I just couldn't resist myself!!! (Btw, this is only less than half of my overhaul) Look at them! They're so bright and beautiful, demanding me to make them into journal covers. This time I will not fail you, my fabric collection. And this time too, I'll start selling them. Stay tuned. Practiced the basics, then learnt how to add in geometric shapes and fringe. Didn't expect the middle fringe to turn out like pompom boobs after trimming... totally unintentional. Alright, so much for practice. More to come. Finally got down to checking this off my to learn-and-do-and-practice list.
Many things to check off this list, soon you will see. Gardening continues... Untreated Concrete planters with Succulents Flowering Basil in marbled Plaster Pot As you can see, I named this pot a Plaster pot, because I got tricked into purchasing 'white cement'. I strongly feel that a supply store's duty is to be specific with products that they sell. If it's plaster of paris, then indicate it, instead of substituting it for an entirely different name which has completely different results. If ind this a problem here in Singapore, because people mending such hardware supply shops are not technical enough, and when you ask for something specific that exists but they don't know about, they tell you there's no such thing at all. It doesn't help with creating. . . ok back to planters.
This evening, raspberry ripple was born. Marbling skills finally to the test. It's really late now (marbled from 10.30pm to 1am) and I'm turning in. More updates tomorrow when there's better light. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Updates 21/04/2016: The concrete planters have cured over the week. I've got them painted , or 'dipped' dyed. Had some plants put in them to test out the look for my report update. More experiments coming soon. . . |
